A Superb 18th Century Yew Wood Comb Back Windsor Armchair

The tall back, with a curved top rail, supported on two out-splayed staves, the space between filled with tapering “sticks”. The hooped arm bow rests on down-curving front supports, again with tapering sticks behind. The wonderfully grained shaped saddle seat has a pair of elegant cabriole legs, morticed fully through the seat and then split and wedged in place, as do the tapering turned back legs. The legs are joined with turned stretchers.
